Profile:

This qualification is for learners who are looking for a career in the hospitality industry or individuals currently working in the industry without formal training.

It allows learners to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or a career in the hospitality sector.

In doing so this qualification covers areas of food and beverage service and cooking components, and candidates have the option to choose either food and beverage or food preparation when completing their qualification

It allows learners to progress into employment or on to the following international qualifications:

Diploma in food & beverage service.

The course includes:

  • Final assignment- research on topic of choice (submitted within 6 months after final exams)

Requirements:

  • Grade 11 (we do not work on a point system) with english and maths literacy
  • An interview and aptitude test are conducted per candidate
  • Passion to be a chef and loves cooking
  • 18-30 years old
  • Prepared to work long hours
  • Will get sore feet, cuts, and burns
  • Committed to work public holidays
  • This is not a marriage, but it needs a 1-year commitment

Intake is in February and June

The school fees include:

  • All study material
  • Registration and exam fees

  • Two chef jackets, hats, and apron
  • Membership fee for namibia chef association

 

Not included in the fees:

  • Breakage fee of N$ 1 000.00
  • Shoes
  • Own dishcloths
  • Reassessment fee of N$ 600.00 for practical and/or theoretical exam
  • Registration fee for rewrite of exams

Classes start 01 March 2023

The full –time chef diploma and food & beverage service classes are held from Monday to Friday each week from 09h00 till 17h00.

Students are also required to attend evening classes and functions and work the occasional function. Students will work practical in placed hotels and restaurants, to experience a real restaurant and kitchen in operation.

To ensure that each student receives personal attention, each course is limited to 12 applicants per intake, which guarantees hands-on teaching. The academy accepts both matriculated and non-matriculated students who show a natural flair for cooking, passion for food, an aptitude for entertaining and hosting guests.
